The majority of Brady's charitable giving is made through the Brady Corporation Foundation which was established in 2005. The Foundation works to make significant long-term grants, as well as one-time cash gifts and other gifts-in-kind to non-profit organizations.

A Sustainable Community Grants Advisory Team works to identify prospective grantees and develop sustainable relationships with community partners. The team divides its work into "triangles" to ensure a strategic balance in our impact on the community:

  • Formative Triangle – ensures a positive start through early childhood development and youth outreach programs and organizations
  • Skills Triangle – provides the building blocks for skills development in primary and secondary school aged students
  • Leadership Triangle – refining skills in college-age and older audiences

Our target for giving each year is to be best-in-class, which is to meet or exceed 1 percent of our pre-tax earnings. We track both our total donations as well as the percentage of the previous year's pre-tax net profits and we seek to improve upon our total giving year-over-year.

In 2011 and 2012, Brady was able to meet it's target of 1.0% of pre-tax earnings in donations.
